Saving the whales means saving their habitat

You can't save wildlife without saving their habitat.

This year, ORCA co-founders attended the 4th International Conference on Marine Mammal Protected Areas in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They hosted workshops on whalewatching, quieter marine protected areas, and identifying globally important marine mammal areas.

Check out the ICMMPA website for more information on the work our colleagues are doing around the world to identify important marine mammal habitats and to protect them from harmful human activities.

Co-founder Rob Williams wins prestigious Pew Fellowship

Every year, the Pew Charitable Trusts choose 5 marine scientists around the world whose work holds promise to solve pressing marine conservation problems. We're thrilled that Rob's work on ocean noise was recognized for that tremendous award. The funding will allow us to supervise students who are expanding our understanding of the effects of ocean noise on salmon, herring, porpoise and whales.
